Undergraduate Mathematics and Statistics
We aim to prepare students for professional careers, not only in mathematics and statistics, but also across the range of pure and applied sciences, commerce, engineering, industry and technology. Our undergraduate subjects train you in essential skills such as logical reasoning, sophisticated problem solving, research skills and oral and written communication. These transferable skills are invaluable for professional life in any discipline.
- Students who enrolled at the University of Melbourne prior to 2008 are enrolled in a heritage degree and will usually do the subjects outlined in Heritage Course Advice for Pre 2008 Students. However some parttime and joint degree students will do a mixture of Heritage and New Generation subjects. Students who are enrolled in a Heritage degree who plan to major in mathematics and statistics and will not complete their degree by the end of 2009 should meet with one of our Department course advisors to design a personal study plan.
- Students enrolling from 2008 onwards will do the subjects described in New Generation Course Advice.
