Diploma of Mathematical Sciences  Actuarial Major Course Plans
The following are typical course plans for students in the Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Actuarial Studies combined with the Diploma of Mathematical Sciences with a major in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics or Discrete Mathematics and Operations Research. For other areas of major studies choose from commerce options. Below are possible course plans for 8 semesters (standard option). It is possible to overload to complete both the Bachelor degree and the Diploma in less time.
MAST10005 Calculus 1 Stream For students with no (or ≤ 28 in ) VCE Specialist Mathematics or equivalent 
MAST10006 Calculus 2 Stream For students with 29 to 37 in VCE Specialist Mathematics or equivalent 
Accelerated Mathematics Stream For students with ≥38 in VCE Specialist Mathematics or equivalent

These students are recommended to take COMP10001 Foundations of Computing as their breadth subject in semester 2, or COMP20005 Engineering Computation as their breadth subject in semester 7 and then take MAST30028 in semester 8.
