## Diploma in Mathematical Sciences for Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Design (where mathematics is breadth), Bachelor of Environments (where science is breadth) or Bachelor of Music

Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts, Music, and where mathematics and statistics are breadth in a Bachelor of Environments taking the Diploma will usually undertake an additional 50 points (4 subjects) of mathematics and statistics in addition to the usual 300 points that make up an undergraduate degree. Students include mathematics and statistics in the breadth component of their degree. Below are possible course plans for 7 semesters (standard option). It is also possible to complete the requirements of both the Bachelor degree and the Diploma in 6 semesters (accelerated option), but plans for these are not given. The precise timing of subjects especially in second year depends on the student's area of major studies in their Bachelor degree.

**Note:** Students intending to take the Applied Mathematics specialisation who do not already have evidence of competence in computer programming will also need to complete a computing subject to satisfy the computing prerequisite for MAST30028. These students are recommended to take COMP10001 Foundations of Computing or COMP20005 Engineering Computation as their breadth subject in semester 6 and then take MAST30028 in semester 7.
